Need help with marks on enammeled box

Postby heyne » Thu Jul 16, 2020 8:20 am

Hello all,
I'm new here and hope this is the right way to ask for your input.
I have searched previous posts and didn't find what I was looking for.
I am stuck with the identification of the makers mark on the box shown in the images.
I usually do ok with russian marks, but this one seems to be the one that got away...
I hope the photos speak for themselves, nice enammeled box in not so good condition.

Hi,
The mark of Nikolay Vladimirov (Н Владимиров PL 1247) is just impossible to look like this; your mark on top, genuine mark bellow.
Whoever made fake punch was not familiar with Cyrillic alphabet;Chinese may be good in imitating, but sometimes they fail.
Let's wait for more responses.
Regards

Hi,

I think, all punches as it should be. Vladimirov is a retailer. Punch of the real maker is situated below (deep) the Vladimirov punch. Therefore defects are around the letters "м”, “i” and "р”.

Hi Dad, after I informed the owners of the suspicions about the mark and it being a possible fake, they showed me inheritance documentation from the 1950s and insurance documents from the 1970s through to last year.
All had a detailed description of the box (but no indication of maker). That led me to believe it was genuine and the mark having been misstruck.
Your information is a great help, as i didn't know about Vladimirov being a retailer.
Explains why I could not find him in the marks book.
Thank you again.
