WMrodgers&son

Postby lovinglittleones » Fri Nov 10, 2006 2:46 pm

I have a bowl, marked GUILD WMRODGERS&SON 5325 I S . The I and S have a rectangle around them- prior to the WM there is a Navy Anchor. I have searched this site and three other detailing marks of American , and foreign silverplate & silver. I have found some info on wmrodgers.... and also on anchors, nothing seems to be what I'm looking at, and have found nothing in reference to WMRodgers&Son. The I and S are to my attention as well. Why does GUILD appear? Can anyone help me? This site has been useful to me in the past, but this one has me stumped. It is son, not SONS, and yes, there is a number and two letters plus the name. Please help. Thanks!

Hi,
I'm sure someone will have an answer for you here at the forum, but for future reference, please note that the 925-1000.com website doesn't document the trademarks of silverplate makers. If you know a piece is silverplate, come directly to this section of the forum.
Regards, Tom

That's probably Wm Rogers & Son (no D in Rogers).
The IS stands for International Silver. They became part of IS in 1898.
I believe Guild is the name of the pattern. If you can find out when they introduced this pattern, it will help you date the bowl.

Regards,
Pat.
