can the crown on this sweets box be identified?

Postby gsmoggy » Sat Feb 08, 2020 11:57 pm

Hi Members
As the crown marks vary on German silver is it possible to identify the maker of this box ,via the crown, crescent moon shapes?
It looks to me the company Bruckmann& Sohne may be a possibility .

Many thanks Guido.

Hi,
It is German Reichsmark (crescent and crown) for silver after 1886.There is no maker's mark in your images.
See here:

Unless we find perfectly matching crown on another piece of silver with maker's mark, the maker would be almost impossible to identify based on the crown shape.

Many thanks AG
I knew it was a long shot, someone may come across this crown ,as you say on a piece with makers name.
as crown marks were not standard,we should be able to place the shape of the crown with maker eventually.

Regards Guido.

Hello
on viewing the crown marks again ,the crown on the maker August Dingeldein &son looks close to my crown.

The image is not clear and the tips on my crown are not there, but the general shape looks similar to me.

Regards Guido.
