Hi all,
This is my first post on this forum. I'm an avid collector of silver and plated pieces for years now, and seeing how this is the first time I'm truly at a loss as to the maker of this cutlery set, I decided to register :)
I've recently acquired a silverplated cutlery set. The blades are marked "90" and "Rostfrei", which leads me to believe they are German, or perhaps Austrian. I'm inclined to believe they are from the Solingen area, as I've had other cutlery sets from Solingen with resembling patterns, way of marking and general look and feel.
The maker's mark of these pieces is very small (about 3mmx1mm). At first glance, one would suspect it to either read "t x t" or "+ x +". After shooting a clear picture with my mobile camera (which is very sharp) and zooming in however, I believe that what I am seeing is rather a cherub-like figure facing right, a bird or eagle of some sort, and a cross.
Does anyone recognize these marks? Any help would be greatly appreciated
