Thomas Butts

The mark of Thomas Butts is the subject of this post. Watson writing in 1908 illustrates a mark registered in August 1807 for Thomas Butts of Birmingham. Bradbury who published his history of Sheffield Plate in 1912 does not show this mark in a single punch but does illustrate four separate marks including one of a plume of feathers on page 446. These seemingly unregistered marks are used on a number of items of early soldered plate including snuffers and all metal dessert forks. Has anyone seen an example of the single punch registered mark used on any item or was Bradbury incorrect in his listing?
