the small mark on the border of the box

Well
This mark looks like the head of a dog ...

So it might be a what is called 'décharge' mark for Paris at the period 1774- 1780. Régie de JB Fouache. for objects made in silver ( french standard was more or less 954 /000

In Paris, the set of marks that was used was called 'Poinçon de la Marque' it was composed of four marks.
Poinçon d'orfèvre - silversmith mark
Poinçon de Charge et de décharge (2)
Poinçon de Jurande -

The small mark called la décharge, justifies the payment of the tax, to the tax collector, who at that period was Jean Baptiste Fouache.

The ornamentation of the box is typically, Louis XVI. Already neo classical.

Did you find other marks???

I hope this helps a little bit
