Postby jason4kstate » Sat Dec 29, 2018 6:27 pm

I found these today at a thrift store. Any idea what these are or who made them would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, could you give the size and weight. Are the ball halves magnetic? The inscription is in German? Jedem Augenblick..........?

"S8S" or "585"? Is it pure coincidence we currently have another "585" mark here: viewtopic.php?f=28&p=164506&sid=39f4e339a72abae95058aa5c82c65307#p164506

Pure coincidence in my opinion , 585 to indicate gold 14 K. Yes not an assay office or guarantee mark.

So, possibly smith/firm "ED or other", using their own "585" to un-officially certify the gold quality of pair #1 at European standards.
More questions...Is the inscription repeated on the silver paired-halves? Is there a more official (assayance) silver mark on that pair, a number mark, or other?

Anything suggesting parts missing at the thrift store? (I'm thinking interchangeable caps for something like cufflinks...on the assumption of the magnetic factor if it is there. Of course, Peter may have something different in mind.)
