Israel Sigmond Greenberg - Help to Explain Meaning of Number Stamp

I have this Israel Sigmond Greenberg electroplated sugar castor, and I would like to know why the number 5 is stamped on the bottom and the lid.

Any help you could provide would be appreciated.

Hi,

These would have been made up in batches, several bodies and several heads at a time. When the finishing process took place, each body and each head would be shaped to fit each other perfectly and marked accordingly so when the final buffing and polishing took place they would not get mixed up with the others in the same batch.
