Hanau ?

Postby kurban » Fri Apr 06, 2018 8:46 pm

Hello, My 1st thought is this is Hanau with English import marks. However the piece is not typical Hanau style , looks more French or English. The touch marks look older but the *00 or 900 stamp looks newer, perhaps stamped later when it was imported as it is stamped sterling however it is not quite 925. Any thoughts ?

Thanks for looking.

Hi Kurban,

Yes it's Hanau. The marks are those of Weinranck & Schmidt. See

Cheers,
Steve

Forgot to add that I think the fineness mark is a rubbed 930 which is common of German manufactured silver made for export to the UK.
