Salt cellar identification

Postby Alex H » Sat Feb 10, 2018 5:17 pm

I would like to hear your opinions on this salt cellar, in particular its possible provenance and time of manufacturing. The metal frame itself has no markings that I could find, and its metal content is unknown to me (not tested), but the coins used for ornament are old silver Danish and Norwegian Skilling from 17th and 18th centuries. Of course, the cellar itself could have been done anywhere in the world anytime between now and the time the latest coin was struck (1785). Trying to fins similar items online was not successful.

Thanks
