En las primeras marcas se ve la cara con el 2 y parece que la A y las detras X GAS 7. ¿
En la otra tapa aparece la media luna y la corona?

¿Puede alguien darme una idea?

Muchas gracias

Hi,
``GAS`` stands for The Georg Adam Scheid Company, founded in 1862 in Vienna, Gumpendorfer Str. 85
Diana`s head ``2`` for 900/1000 (A for Vienna). Used 1872 - 1922.

Crescent and crown are German marks.

So, GAS was an importer and retailer.

Member Bahner noted the following information:
Images are missing in the link of this forum - Photobucket 3rd party hosting. So, here is the text.
Georg Adam Scheid: born 1838 in Germany, active since 1858 in the Viennese workshop of M. Markowitsch. Married one of Markowitsch’s daughters and joined the company, which was renamed Markowitsch & Scheid. The two separated in 1882, after that Markowitsch & Scheid was owned by Adolf Markowitsch alone (a son of M. Markowitsch, this company shut down in 1898), Scheid continued on his own, his company was named “G.A. Scheid”. He produced small silver ware and jewelry. In 1884 he opened up his own refinery (“G.A. Scheid’sche Affinerie”), which became very successful, branches in various countries. Scheid retired in 1911 or 1912 (looks like he died in 1913), in 1920 the company “G.A. Scheid” merged with Ludwig Rainer (another refinery) in Vienna. Production of jewelry and silverware was given up at the end of 1922, the remaining workmen joined the Scheid’sche Affinerie. The refinery continued to exist until 1952.

So, GAS was an importer and retailer.

More likely vice versa. Made in Vienna by GAS and imported and assayed in Germany.
