Need info on london maker in the 1770's with mark sw

I have a piece of silver with london marks for 1776 and the maker S W in an oblong cartouche. Any help would be appreciated .. Thanks Mikew

For the date of 1776, and the description of the makers mark, my best bet would be on Samuel Whitford 1

l have the following info, no record of apprenticeship or freedom,only mark registered as a smallworker 27th March 1764, address St Martins Le Grand.

The only mark for that period also has a "pellet" in between the S and W what piece of silver is it on ?
