Is this French?

Postby niceguy1 » Wed Aug 16, 2017 7:42 pm

HI ALL

Is this the hallmark for French .950 silver? There is a makers mark in a lozenge shaped cartouche but it’s very small & interior is gilded which makes it hard to photograph.

Thanks

Yes, the Minerva head in an octagonal reserve indicates French 950 standard silver. The maker's mark looks far too blurry on my monitor to make an attribution. Perhaps you could sharpen up the image or tell us what the letters are?

Thanks for the confirmation. I'm afraid the makers mark was badly struck to begin with & i cannot make out the letters.
