Theodor Heiden II

Postby Dendriet » Tue Jun 13, 2017 10:04 am

What was it for?

I would like to know, if it is, what I think it is.
I'm not completely sure about it.

Thanks in advance

Hello, this certainly looks like one of the marks used by the Heiden workshop. The mark with the TH and the figure of the "Muenchner KIndl" is incompletely struck, but I am not aware of another Munich gold- and silversmith of that period with those or similiar initials. Regards, Bahner

Hello Bahner,

As you can see, a little has been purchased at the top of the head.
I have still tried to remove the dirt with a toothpick but let it go on.
It looks a bit better now, but with an eye-loupe it is very clear.

The question is: What is it?

Hi,

I can not leave it if it does not go the way I want it
Frustrating
Again tried to get it better
But I do not give up soon.

HEllo!
Although we don't know the measures, I think, this is what it look like, a beaker - to drink something.
It's a very popular form in the 16-19. century in Hungary, mostly in Erdély (Siebenbürgen, Transylvania)
I'm sure, you can find a lot of example in the internet, for example from Brassó, Nagyszeben, Kolozsvár stb... (Kronstadt, Hermannstadt, Clausenburg)
viewtopic.php?f=24&t=16460&p=80112&hilit=kronstadt#p80112
It's a copy from the historism,
Best regards!

Hi Krisztián,

Great that you recognize it right away.
I have seen this model cups more often in books or the internet, but if you need it, the ready-made knowledge suddenly disappears.

It is indeed a copy of historism.
Theodor Heiden has made good use of this
This footed beaker (7cmx3.5x3) has no flat bottom but a hollow bottom.

My personal idea is that this was meant to be a "Jigger".

A jigger or measure is a bartending tool used to measure liquor, which is typically poured into a cocktail shaker. (Wikipedia - In Germany, shot glasses (German: Schnapsglas, Pinnchen, Stamperl) are smaller)
20 ml top and 10 ml bottom.

Again, thank you Krisztián for your cooperation and the most important thing that you also accompanied this argument with demonstrable data
This is why I admire this Forum, that you can acquaint yourself with other scientific data

Bahner,

Bahner his response was correct, hence my action to polish the makers mark
Should not have underestimated this, and therefore, rightly so.
Thanks Bahner for your comment.

Dendriet
