Unidentified marks - End of 18th c. ?

Postby anikopol » Sat Feb 25, 2017 4:34 am

Hi,

On a "small ads" website, I found this object but I could not identify the origin of marks :

According to the form of the silversmith mark, I think that it could be a Belgian object, but it is only a supposition.
Any idea ?

Hi,

The meat skewers. Let us assume made in Belgium 18th century, light weight silver with out (visible) town mark.

The first meat skewer, if the maker's mark reads; P.D under crown, it shows a resemblance with the maker's mark of the Belgian silversmith Jean-Philippe Dumetz (Dumez) or Pierre Dupont, registered in the city of Liège (Luik) middle /late 18th century. The other mark is not clear to me, flowery or feathers?
The other two meat skewers with maker's mark only, a running horse shows resemblance with the maker's mark of the Belgian silversmith P. j. Versturme, registered in Gent middle/late 18th century. I could be wrong reference Belgische Zilvermerken R. Stuyck.

Oel.
