Oh, so interesting. I see there diacritical mark above A. So I think it is Latin, Greek or Old Cyrillic.

I'll have to hunt for it but I have the same marks on a "Military-Style" Clarinet shaped badge/pin (as opposed to having one pin that hooks in then back out of one's clothing, it has two straight pins with lug closures, similar to those found on a "Tie-Tack".
I gtot the feeling (weight for size, color etc) it was more likely to be lead free pewter or the like as opposed to Ag.
