Augsburg Ladle

Postby moonshine » Sun Jul 17, 2016 11:06 pm

Hello Again All. I've put some time into researching this one, but haven't gotten very far.
The Acorn mark with the letter E, I believe, according to one website, may be 1741-1743.
The other mark could be FW, but I'm not so sure about that either, as the first letter is fairly rubbed.
And the third mark, which is in the center of the stem, I cannot figure out at all.
Gold wash in the bowl, which is an interesting shape I have not seen on many ladles.
Measures 15 inches long and weighs 292 grams.
Thank you for any information.

Hi, the third mark is a large import and duty mark of the Kingdom of Belgium used 1832 till 1869. The mark represents a Gothic E for étranger meaning foreign. The import and duty mark does not give any guarantee of a precious metal standard or fineness. Used on metal with a 250 minimum silver content as a duty mark. The mark was destined for all imported, unmarked and invalid marked objects of foreign, national and unknown origin.

Hi,
The acorn for 1739-1741 is a bit different ,it`s most likely 1789-1791 (Rosenberg # 283).
Besides, it `s more logical with Belgian import mark suggested by Oel.
Cheers

I think it is AW (Seling #2338)
Abraham Warnberger IV

Augsburg hallmark with E - ca. 1789-1791
