Silver cross

Postby madmoocow » Sat Jun 04, 2016 2:22 pm

Hi

My partner found a beautiful cross at a boot sale a few years ago and I wondered if someone could please shed some light as to its origins? I did a little investigating on Google and thought the maker may be Thomas James Skelton, the year 1939 and the town Chester. But I was just using Google and my interpretations are likely way off the mark.

Many thanks
Sarah

Hi Sarah,

Welcome to the Forum.

Your findings are spot on. Thomas Skelton, 86, Vyse Street, Birmingham, was one of the many Birmingham jewellers who choose to use the services of the Chester Assay Office.

Please remember in future posts to keep your images to within the 7" (18cm) width limits, else some people with smaller screens may not see the whole image.

Hi Trev

Thank you very much. Was 1939 the correct year?

Sarah

ps. Apologies for the image. I spent several hours tinkering with image hosting sites, my laptop (which is clearly deceased) and finally managed to copy the image link and then my tablet battery died ..... I was frazzled

Yes, 1939 is correct.
