I think that the mark in your first two pictures is a partial Birmingham hallmark for 1881 (date letter g). This implies that whatever you have there is only part of a complete item because that other part would have either a complete hallmark or the missing 2 marks (anchor and maker's mark. I wondered at first whether it might be a comb holder but that doesn't square with the partial mark. The engraved decoration suggests it might be some sort of vanity item for a lady's dressing table, but that's as far as I can go.

It looks like a badly damaged half of an engraved, hinged bangle bracelet. length and width are about right, that end could be for the box catch, and I have seen them marked with partial marks on one half and full marks on the other.
