I found this awesome christmas elf Smoking a pipe balancer the other day.
Having some trouble figuring it out. Not sure why, most of my pieces I can identify fairly quickly.
Presumably Dutch but I think it could be Danish as well.
I was told by the consignment shop that it is quite old.
Marked 833 and then there's a cursive letter D inside a diamond.
Marked on the base, the elf and both fists
Can someone identify the maker or give any information about the marks please?
Any thoughts on the possible significance of the upside down fists?
I think it's a super interesting piece.
Hopefully y'all do too and maybe even have some information for me.
