Help with this ancient silver cup

Postby #davedelph » Sat Jan 30, 2016 1:33 pm

Hello everybody!
This is my first post since I need your help by identifying these marks of an old silver cup. I even didn't understand the country provenance (Russia? Austria?).
I almost passed all the pages of this website, but did't find any reference.
Who can help me?
Thanks in advance!

Hello #davedelph,

I have no idea, but I found some similarities. May be it can be a thought-provoking impulse. To my mind it is perhaps french.

Best regards, Ringo

Thanks Ringo and AG2012 for your replies.
I found these cups in this topic:

The manufacturing is almost the same, even though the marks are different.
It is quite strange to have an Austrian mark with a Paris maker mark... I think the first one is right, while the large A is very similar, but not the one we're searching.

Very welcome other helps.

It is not the "A" of Paris.

It could be austrian nevertheless.

Hi,

Another remark : the third marks is most probably the one for the purity of silver. I guess that "D.G / 9.20 / ..." stands for "9 deniers 20 grains" (old French measure). I saw a similar marks for a silver item from Colmar (Alsace) ; unfortunatly, there is very few documentation concerning Colmar silver.
