NORTHCOTE, Thomas (Grimwade p.609)

Postby silverly » Sun Jan 24, 2016 12:46 am

11 January 1764 Thomas son of Richard Northcote of Well Close Square in the County of Middlesex Cooper apprenticed to Charles Hutton London Goldsmith.

11 July 1765 Thomas Northcote before the Mayor and Alderman of the City of London in the Chamber of the Guildhall "wholly discharged from his Master.... for that the said apprentice was not Inrolled according to the custom of London." A cause for the action may have been non payment.

23 June 1766 Thomas Northcote turned over to Thomas Chawner of Red Lion Street Clerkenwell Spoon Maker and Goldsmith of London for the remainder of his term.

Grimwade gives a different dates and slightly differing details of the apprenticeship .
However Grimwade's date of 3 July 1771 as his freedom date, and his age at death in 22 May 1798 as 49 years , makes the above post seem the more likely .

His marriage to Hannah Coley, the daughter of Simeon Coley I , and his burial in Bunhill Fields tends to indicate he may have been a non-conformist
