Help, I can't attach an image

Postby Whitla » Wed Dec 30, 2015 6:33 pm

I am new to this forum and am trying to download an image from a file on my desktop to include with a query - without success.

Is there a simple way to do this?

Many thanks.

How to add images: http://www.925-1000.com/images.html

Use to upload your image(s), then copy and paste "IMG Code for Forums & Message Boards" to your post to embed the image(s).

Hi user701 and thanks for your reply.

Forgive me but I have checked How to add images and still don't get it. I did hit the 'insert image' button hoping my image file would come up for me to access the relevant picture but nothing visual happened. Is there a step by step guide anywhere for people who are new to these things?

Thanks for your patience.

Trev,
thanks for your kind welcome and good link.

The link basically talks about how to successfully photograph an item and store it on the computer, all of which I have done. My struggle is getting the image into my message to post on this board.

For example, when you click the attachment button for sending an email, a window appears through which you locate your image. You then click that image and it appears in the email about to be sent.

When I click the 'Img' button in the bar above this message the only thing that happens is that [/img] appears at the end of my text. I cannot find a rout to the picture on my laptop which I want to include with my message.

Am I missing something very obvious?

Please forgive my denseness but any thoughts you may have will be welcome.

Hi Whitla, you wrote:

Store not on your computer only but from your computer to an image/photo hosting site. You have to store your image at an image/photo hosting site:
You make the required photos and store those at a photo hosting site. The photo host will ask you if you like to keep original size or like to re-size; re-size to 640x480 (medium) and upload the image(s). After you have uploaded your re-sized image, you can choose what kind of link you like to provide to enable others to view your image. You have four choices; Direct, Forum, Alt Forum and HTML; choose Forum and copy the link. Now you can paste the image-link in your 925-1000 new topic text, please use the preview button, to check quality of the image before posting.
For photo/image hosting you could choose ImageShack not free of charge but Ad free: https://imageshack.com/
but there are many other free hosting sites.

Best,

Oel

When used you will be requested to enter a sentence to prove you are not a robot, then upload your photo. When the photo is uploaded make sure you copy-paste the entire link including brackets and paste it into the message. If only one bracket is not copied properly the picture will not appear in ``preview``. Try several times until you manage to copy the entire link with brackets both at the beginning and at the end. I think, that`s the most common mistake leading to failed embedding. Everything else depends on strictly followed instructions.
