Inherited Family Heirloom

Postby Llbad » Thu Dec 24, 2015 6:31 pm

Hello all,

I recently inherited a very nice pocket watch. My research has led me to believe that it was made in london in 1799, and is made of .925 sterling silver. I am having a hard time identifying the makers mark though. I also have not been able to find anything similar on the internet. Can someone verify my research and potentially identify the maker's mark (admin edit read the forum rules)? Thank you much! Awesome site you have going here.

In regards to this wonderful snarky admin comment: Can someone verify my research and potentially identify the maker's mark (admin edit read the forum rules)?

I literally can not find the forum rules on my android browser

Hi Libad,

Welcome to the Forum.

The forum rules consist of the Posting Requirements that are posted at the top of the forum menu. In block capitals it advises you to read before posting. I do not know the reason as to why your post was edited, but one of the mods took the time to edit your post and correct your mistake and was paid back with a sarcastic comment.

Do you really think that this is best way to endear yourself to the members of this forum and get the answers that you are seeking?

Happy Christmas.

Trev.

Hi Libad,

We do not give appraisals, that why your question has been edited.

The watch case maker SB in a rectangle for: Samuel Brookes registered in London, with this particular mark, September 1796 to 1822. London date letter indeed for 1799.
The enamel of the dial shows a little damage which will affect the value.

Oel.
