German Serving Piece Help please

Postby pieterwolt » Sat Nov 28, 2015 12:01 pm

I came across an old looking serving piece with an intricate handle and acid etched blade, the blade has the word STAHL(steel) but I am wondering if the handle could be silver ,there does not seem to be a hallmark anywhere on it?The piece seems to be late 19th century early 20th century as it is very ornately decorated.
Any ideas about this sort of item?

Hi,

Your question cannot be answered positively from a photograph alone, but it unlikely that anyone would make such an item out of silver and not give any indication of that fact.
