No, this is silver plate. A maker's mark in a square is always silver plate in France. Sorry.

Are you sure this is French silver plate? Anyone has more info about this spoon? I think that 18Gr means 18 grams of silver but what about other mark? ( O; hand pointing up symbol; L ) ? How to determine from where and from when this spoon came from and who made it? Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

Yes, the item is plated.

To understand the French numbering system, see: http://www.925-1000.com/a_platenumbers.html

Hi,

The maker's mark belongs to O. Liberty and represents the statue of liberty.
Active post 1838.
I have no more info concerning this silver plater.
