Two ? Russian Spoons

Postby Pooka » Thu Feb 26, 2015 12:29 pm

Hello,

Here are three links to the images of the two spoons on Photobucket.

I think they could be genuine solid silver Russian spoons with a gold-plated exterior. The hallmarks look like they should be but I can only decipher the 84 and Kokoshnik marks. Can anyone decipher the marks on both spoons? It would be great if they are the genuine article but I am ready for the worst!

Thanks for any help/views,

Greg.

If those "hallmarks" are all there is, I'm sorry but you must prepare for the worst. On a Russian made object there is always a maker's mark with the hallmark. You seem to lack this mark on the spoons...

Hi Pooka,

Indeed I would call those marks spurious.

Weep, I thought it was too good to be true! Thanks for the link to the image hosting site, which I will use henceforth. All the best, Greg.
