Hi Videoman,

Welcome to the Forum.

They are not hallmarks I'm afraid. The 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 6th marks are the Gothic letters 'E' 'P' 'N' 'S' (Electro Plated Nickel Silver). The 4th mark, a Maltese Cross, a device used by several English platers. The first mark, which identifies the maker, appears to be a monogram of 'H' and 'R', is one that not ringing any bells at the moment.

Seasons greetings to all

I am still trying to find out the maker as well as the approximate year regarding my silver plated fish server ... can't seem to have any luck with the HR part of it though. The Gothic EPNS letters and the Maltese Cross have been clarified. Any other ideas or suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Many thanks.

Hi Videoman,

That's not a fish server, it's a crumb knife, it would likely have had a matching brush for sweeping crumbs from the dining table.

I'm sure you would get a lot more response if you embed your images as many people will not click on links.

Thanks for the info ... much appreciated. I have tried embedding my two images from Imageshack where they are stored. I have tried copy and pasting the two URL options from Imageshack (Link & Direct) into the body of my thread here, making sure it sits between the brackets but unfortunately a message keeps returning "It was not possible to determine the dimensions of the image" ... any ideas?

Hi Videoman,

You will get that message if either the image is very oversized, or that there is an error in the coding. I would firstly ensure that the image does not exceed the 7" (18cm) width guidelines.
