Silver Hallmarked Ingot

Postby sansprix » Fri Nov 14, 2014 11:55 pm

Hi Everyone,
I'm new around here, and trying to find out something about a silver ingot on a chain I have. I would post a picture of it, but I can't for the life of me, figure out how to do that.
The ingot in question is 3cm long and about 1cm wide, and it has the following hallmarks, going from top to bottom...
1. C&T
2. The face of a cat (or other feline)
3. An italicised C
4. A side profile of what could be Queen Elizabeth II
Any information on this ingot would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Jon

The ingot is hallmarked for London, 1977

Many thousands of these ingots were produced with a 1977 assay date as commemorative pieces for the Queen's Silver Jubilee (25 years reigning). The queen's head was used in that year as an optional additional mark to the normal hallmark. We see them with many different sponsors' marks, but C&T is unfortunately not known to me.
