Scottish Provinical Mark - punch ladle

Hi there,

Can anyone help with this Scottish mark? It is on the stem of a punch ladle. The bowl is not marked. I am not sure if it is B&I or B&F.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,

That appears to be the mark of Bayne & Napier of Glasgow. The mark may be distorted, but the 'B' and the ampersand look like a perfect fit.
