Silver Corinthium Oil Lamp

Postby harryjames » Fri Aug 22, 2014 3:51 pm

Hi all,

I have the chance to buy a valuable silver Corinthian oil lamp.
I am hoping someone may be able to help me out with the marks that are on it.

Thanks in advance,
Harry.

The marks are the retailer's mark of Mackay & Chisholm, the maker's mark, JD&S, of James Dixon & Sons of Sheffield, the assay office mark of Sheffield (crown), the lion passant sterling silver standard mark, and the letter "c", the Sheffield date code for the assay year 1895/96.
