Antique European(?) Gold marks on Necklace

Postby honnnie81 » Sat Jul 19, 2014 1:32 pm

I purchased this necklace, which acid tests at 14k, but am unable to identify the mark. I would like to know the age/origin if possible. Even just the country would be a great help, if anyone can tell me.

Thanks so much,

Hi Amy,

Welcome to the Forum.

I've only seen the silver version, but this appears to me to be the Head of Partenope mark that was used in Napoli (Naples) from 1824 until 1878. The 'N6' indicates 12 carat gold (N5 would be 14ct.). The outline varies from it's silver counterparts and it will need someone better versed in Italian marks to confirm/deny.

(Please remember in future posts to keep your images to within the 7" (18cm) guidelines, otherwise those with smaller monitors cannot see the whole image).

Trev.
