Where is this spoon from?

Postby techsol » Fri Jul 18, 2014 10:27 am

Hi,

I came across this tablespoon in a job lot I bought, can anybody help me with the origins of this piece?

Many Thanks
Martin

Hi Martin,

It's Italian. The lower mark is the Cross of Saints Maurice & Lazarus used 1824-1873 by the Kingdom of Piedmont & Sardinia. It denotes the second standard of 800/1000 silver.

Hopefully someone better versed in Italian marks can recognise the other marks.

Trev.

If the upper mark is like this

then the spoon was made in Genova.
The hearth shaped mark, however, is unknown to me.
