silver bracelet & heart

Postby questingmoose » Thu Jul 17, 2014 7:26 pm

Who is the maker of this bracelet? The heart bears letters E-P and symbols anchor, lion passant, and lower case a. Most links of the chain have the letters E-P and three symbols impressed: one is a lion passant; the others may be a shield and a ram's head.

Good day,

Anchor represents the city of Birmingham assay office with a Birmingham date letter a for 1900. On the links you have the city of Chester assay office with a Chester cursive upper A date letter for 1901. As you know lion passant indicates sterling or 925-1000 parts silver. E-P was not identified in either Brimingham or Chester makers marks on Silver Makers Marks UK but I'm sure one of our more experienced members can identify him or her for you.

Hope this helps
Warren

Hi,

That would be Edwin Page, 33, Hylton Street, Birmingham. He was registered at both the Birmingham and Chester assay offices. He was primarily a chain maker.
