Silver Box - obscure marks

Postby ajm600 » Sun May 14, 2006 12:13 pm

Does anyone have any ideas on this mark? Rather paltry information I'm afraid. The figure is "90". Thanks a lot.

Not really my area, but believe your box is Chinese Export 900/1000 silver by Hong Kong silver maker Wang Hing & Co., very prolific manufacturer working late 19th-early 20th century.

Wang Hing was located at 110 Queen's Road, Hong Kong in the late 19th and early twentieth centuries. There are a number of his pieces and this mark illustrated in "Chinese Export Silver 1785 to 1885" (pub. Museum of the China Trade, 1975).
