Hello, I am at a loss. Please help me identify, Thank you. Sorry, the pictures are not the best.

The HR is the only mark on the base, no others, not in the post, match holder or snuffer.

hi,

your item is actually a chamberstick for candles.the central "sconce" would hold the candle, not matches as you think.i dont know the makers stamp, but the other mark is more than likely a griffin beneath what looks to be an earls coronet.so the original owner was someone of good standing,an aristocrat of some sort.

Thank you, chelsea98-

I guess I should have posted one more picture. Under the snuffer, is a cone shaped cup with small ribs on the outside. This cone would hold stick matches which can be struck on the ribs in order to ignite a match.

Thanks again,
jonelby
