Help in identifying the date letter

Hi Everyone,

I will be very grateful if anyone can help me date this 18K gold ring?
I am finding it very hard to identify the Birmingham Date Letter on it.
Someone told me that it looks like a 1894 "U" letter, but I am not sure if he is right?

The maker hallmark on the ring is "E & F. B" , I think that may be- E & F Bauer- c 1902, but I am also not sure about that?

I am not sure that the first pictures I posted of the date letters are clear enough, so I am trying now once more.
Can anyone maybe identify this letter?

Hi,

Your images are a little unclear, but it does appear to be the Gothic 'u' of 1894. My second choice would be the 'w' of 1896.

The maker, as you suspected, was Emil & Frank Bauer, 52, Albion Street, Birmingham.

That is very interesting because I didn't know that they used Gothic letters in 1894/6. On the 2 Birmingham dates letters tables I found searching online, the U and W letters of 1894/6 are regular and not gothic.
Did they use back then both regular and also gothic letters in the same years?

Thanks Trev for the link.
I actually thought by mistake that the letters shown on this table for 1894/6 are regular letters, and only those for example in the 1830's were Gothic ones.
It seems that there are a few different styles used then for gothic letter hallmarks.
