Bird of Prey Crest - Dread God

Postby dognose » Thu Mar 27, 2014 8:20 am

Hi,

A crest of a bird of prey beneath the motto 'Dread God':

Image

This one was noted on a piece by Koch & Bergfeld of Bremen.

Any thoughts appreciated.

That's MUNRO the Nova Scotia Baronets of Foulis. (Rosshire, 1631) An Eagle, close, proper. Kind regards.

Hi Trevor,

for comparison with your spoon, here is a later version of the Munro Crest,
on a Hugh Ross serving spoon circa 1775 from Tain.
This also has a letter M under the crest, presumably for Munro.
