On a set of 6 teaspoons with strong Cork connections.
These 2 by Terry & Williams with others by Solomon and Garde
They also have a letter W on the heel of each.

I am inclined to think it is WOOD, but there are so many branches (ha, ha) to the family. I'm concentrating on the landed gentry in Ireland. It will be interesting to see what the others think.

Gentlemen,

I'm very curious about the symbolism. Is this referring to Celtic legend, county Cork history, etc? Would be no small feat for even the strongest man to pull a sapling of that size from the ground with his bare hands. Virility?

Hi,
just back from hols and viewed posts.
Thanks for your input and possibilities suggested.
I also feel the family name is probably Wood or a variation, eg Woodsman etc
Perhaps the family crest is no longer in use but a shame if not rediscovered.
Keep up the research.
