Help with makers mark and item type

Hello,

I just got this ladle like sifter. I'm wondering what it was used for sifting? It is different in shape and size than the sugar sifters I have seen. Also wondering about the maker. I assume, based on the marks this is from Sweden, made in 1800, by GADD. I can't make out the town mark.

It could be for the city of Umea (deformed) 19th century; three deer heads.

The maker is Johannes Gadd from Umeå in northern Sweden. He was born 24.10.1766 and died 1802 and worked there as master 1798-1802. His widow took over after his dead and marked until 1822The town crest of Umeå has three rein deer heads in it as you can see from the picture in the earlier input.
It is without any doubts a sugar sifter made in 1800 (S2). A tea strainer has always drilled holes newer sawed holes like in this case.

Thanks for the information, on the maker and city, that is great. I guess it just must be a very large sugar sifter, maybe for those who really needed to handle a lot of sugar or wanted to do it quickly.

You don't give any measures, so what is "large"? An ordinary sugar sifter is about 20cm/~8". A tea strainer is about the same size.
