pendant - hallmark identification needed

Postby tdb » Sun Jan 26, 2014 11:10 pm

This was giving to my wife as a thank you. It is probably not worth anything but it does have a "mark". I don't even know what the stone is. I am interested in the mark. What does it mean?

I apologize for using links verses embedded photos. I could not figure out how to post the image directly.

I believe the mark is upside down and is the Egyptian mark for Alexandria 18k or .750 gold.

Thank you. Is this a relatively modern piece? The next challage is to figure out what the stone is. Thanks again.

It looks like it is relatively modern, but the mark has bee used for almost 100 years. The stone is probably synthetic.
