Help with WD Hallmark

Postby dwurzel » Wed Apr 19, 2006 9:34 pm

Can anyone help here? I cannot find this mark, although I can find a single reference to a William Dawes of Boston, first appearing in 1785. On the other hand, William Dawes, Sr. (father of Paul revere's famous co-rider was a silversmith and would have been making silver before 1785. The shape and style of these spoons resemble one I have that was made in London in 1776. Anyone shed any light on this mark or maker? Thanks.

Just wondered if it was you who won the auction and if you have permission to use the photos. . .
