The abbreviation 'STG' and 'SIL' most commonly occur on Australian and South African pieces, but....

Can you show us an image of the whole item?

Thanx, dognose, for your response. Seller indicates the item is Australian, ca. 1900, but I found nothing in my Tardy (admittedly not a comprehensive text). Just checking. Here's the piece in question:

If I can interject, the exact marks are not shown in Hawkins' book, but then the book just uses drawings anyway. I checked twice, once before Dognose's contribution and once after. You might ask it the seller has Australian provenance or just looked up the marks. I would be a bit surprised if it is not Australian.
