The Will of James Bellis, late of Bishops Hatfield, Hertfordhire, proved for probate on 12th November 1788 (National Archives reference PROB 11/1171/215) may be relevant in view of the announcement in The Gentleman's Magazine of the death on 1st November 1788 of the jeweller of that name, late of Pall Mall which is mentioned by Grimwade.

1 April 1746 James Bellis of the parish of St George in the County of Middlesex bachelor & goldsmith was bound in marriage to Elizabeth Hartley widow.
