CROUCH, John II (Grimwade p.480-1)

Postby MCB » Thu Jul 11, 2013 4:38 am

Christenings of Thomas Hannam Crouch in 1800, John Scott Crouch in 1802, John Hannam Crouch in 1805 and Mary Ann Crouch in 1807 all children of John and Cathrine (sic) were registered at St Olave, Silver Street.
Indentures for Kemp Bowman of Hoxton to be his apprentice were signed in 1808.
He was assessed to Land Tax on property in Monkwell Street from 1809-17 from where he had entered marks at Goldsmith’s Hall in partnership with Thomas Hannam in 1799 and alone in 1808. A new tenant was assessed in 1818.
The burial of a John Crouch aged 61 years, late of Stoke Newington, was registered at St Sepulchre, Holborn on 1st February 1837 followed in 1842 at the same church by the burial of a Catherine Crouch, aged 66 years late of Gibson Square, Islington. Both appear relevant as does the Will of John Crouch, late of Stoke Newington, proved for probate on 2nd March 1837 (National Archives reference PROB 11/1874/8).
