Help identifying marks for a very ornate tea service

Postby mk209 » Sun Jun 23, 2013 3:31 pm

I recently acquired this tea service, sold as a Victorian service but I cannot identify the marks. Any help would be appreciated. The set was stunning and it was just something I had to have despite not having deep pockets!

Hi Matt,

Welcome to the Forum.

That would be one of the marks used by Robert Gainsford.

Thanks Trev that's great news, I just wish I could tie it down to a year but it's always hard with silver plate. I've seen similar sets before but nothing as ornate as this, just as well it was silver plate otherwise it'd have taken a lottery win to get this!

Matt.
