I wonder if anyone recognises these marks as silver marks. They appear on a rather crude handmade tray 47cm over the handles. They are 800 in an oval, st in an oval and then a star, 39 and PA in a rectangle. The tray itself does not appear to be silver. I don't think it is plated, but it looks more like nickel silver or white metal. Could possibly be pewter, but doesn't seem heavy enough. The surface has a myriad of fine scratches, making it quite difficult to clean, but the grunge is slowly coming off to reveal a dull matt surface. Were there any known cases of an 800 mark being used on items that are not silver? Or is this a silver mark. Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks Frank
