18th c French Colonial? Mark LS sold by gorham

Postby Francais » Thu May 30, 2013 5:59 pm

This came to mind when talking about patina. It is a very large French style stuffing spoon, 18th c. I can't find either mark, and am hoping someone has seen one of them before. Evidently it was taken to Gorham & Thurber, where it was buffed, and engraved with a later monogram. I don't think they imported it for sale, as it clearly predates them by many decades. I hope someone can solve one of my mysteries.
