Hi,
This spoon is 21cm long and weighs 52gr.
The mark appears to be Austria Dianakopf mark with a small number 4 to the right hand side.
Is this correct ? Any ideas on the maker ?
Looks to be TR although poorly stamped.
A nicely balanced spoon which has the feel of a lower grade of silver.

Hello!
This dianakopf mark was used from 1872 to 1922. The form and the number 4 shows the fineness (800). Somebody maybe knows the maker.

Are you sure that it's a 4 and not an A ( for Vienna/Wien)

after straining my eyes through my pocket microscope x 40 magnification,
I feel that it is more likely to be an A as you mentioned rather than a 4
Very hard to make out though.
Perhaps it may help to determine the maker if it is Vienna/Wien

Hello again!
Sorry, this was my mistake.
From 1872 to 1922 (in Hungary to 1937) the next marks was valid for the large silverware. (These are only for the 750 and 800‰)
The first is for the 800‰, the second is for the 750‰ (earlier 12lat)
The number in the mark's left side is 3.
The form of the mark, and this number shows the fineness 800‰. Number 4 showed the 750‰
The character in the right side of the mark shows the assay office.
Between 1867 and 1872 in the hallmark was only the number which shows the number tho, but wasn't character for the assay office.This was punched separetly.

By magnifying the mark on my listed pic it looks more like a 4 than an A .
any ideas welcome though.

Hi Bob,
A friend has contacted me to state that he thinks the mark is 'TB'. The only 'T·B' recorded by Waltraud Neuwirth is with a central pellet, and that was Theodor Baum, but he was noted as a chain maker. Thus, the mark is likely to be that of a retailer.

thanks for the info,even though it looks like a dead end now.
Its a nice spoon all the same,even if the maker didn't see fit to put his mark on it.
