SHEENE, Joseph and Alice (Grimwade p.656)

Postby MCB » Wed May 22, 2013 4:24 am

Grimwade’s presumption that Alice (Stone) was Joseph’s widow is confirmed by their marriage record in 1688 at St Andrew, Holborn; he was from Christ Church, Newgate parish.
The Will of Joseph Sheene, late goldsmith of London, was granted probate on 27th February 1700 (National Archives reference PROB 11/454/344).

I don't know how relevant this is but, the burial of Mr Joseph Sheen is recorded at St Magnus the Martyr on 21 February 1700 (NS). He was buried in the North Chappel near the window.

1 August 1718 Alice Sheen of London Widow will proved at London. Reference: TNA PROB 11/565/7
The is a possibility for the subject lady's will because she desired to be buried near her husband's grave in Saint Magnus's Church.
